Do I control what I take on, and its condition?
Yes. Ragpiq checks every piece at its sorting centre against the seller's own video before it reaches you. You see each piece, with its photos, the seller's walkthrough and the numbers, and you keep it or pass on it. When it arrives you check it in, and you can still decline it then. Nothing is listed until you confirm it.
How do I get stock? Do I compete with other stores?
There is no bidding. Ragpiq prices every piece and picks a store for it, guided by the rates you set and what you sell. You review what Ragpiq picks for you and keep what you want. A piece you have not kept by 11:59pm the next working day goes back to Ragpiq. Ragpiq sends stock to stores anywhere in Australia.
How much back and forth is there with sellers?
None. Sellers deal with Ragpiq: Ragpiq prices their pieces, receives their bags at its sorting centre, and pays the sellers who sold outright. Ragpiq delivers what you keep and tells you the day: free by van around Melbourne, or by Australia Post further away, with the postage on your weekly bill. Your part is to check pieces in, list them, sell them, and pay a consignment seller from your Wallet when their piece sells.
Who is responsible if an item is lost, damaged, or stolen in my store?
Ragpiq holds each piece at its sorting centre until it is delivered to you. From delivery, it is in your care. A piece you take as a buyout is yours.
For a consigned piece, you are responsible while it is in your care, and that is the standard arrangement for any consignment store. Under Australian law a store that holds goods to sell on commission is a "bailee for reward", which means you must take reasonable care of items in your possession and you are responsible if something happens to them on your watch. You should carry business insurance that covers other people's goods in your care. Ragpiq does not insure items in your store, but we keep the responsibilities clear and help work through any claim.
How does Ragpiq fit alongside the way I already run my store?
Ragpiq sits on top of your existing workflow rather than replacing it.
